Dearest Friends and Family :)
This week has been both busy and amazing!! I have seen so
many miracles!!! =D First I wanted to share one of the best miracles of the
week and it happen on Monday night!! Sister Bolos and I were out knocking
referrals and I-netting (Inspired networking: basically if you were prompted to
go some where and you get there and the gator/former gator/LARC isn't in or
refuses to talk there is still a reason to be there and the best way to find
out what it is, is to start knocking doors.) And it was getting late and there was no success
to be found it seemed. I mean it was getting downright discouraging and then I
had a thought. It came from our Companion Studies that morning while we had
been discussing our goals for this week and I decided I needed to be better at
inviting people to baptism ESPECIALLY on the first lesson. And she shared the
story of a friend who had been playing a tracting game with his companion where
you have to use a word given by your companion in the door approach. So as
these Elders knocked on the door the companion leaned over and said Baptism.
And the door opened to a woman and the words that came were "WILL YOU BE
BAPTIZED?" And believe it or not the woman let them teach her and in four
weeks she was baptized! So as Sister Bolos and I are walking back toward the
car I saw a house and the thought came that we should go over and invite the
person living in that house to baptism. So I told Sister Bolos (and I'm pretty
sure she thought I was either joking or crazy..) but she agreed and we said a
prayer by our car and then she asked me where we were going to knock and I said
I was trusting my first instinct and we were going to the house with the lights
on. We knocked twice and the door opened and Sister Bolos started her standard
door approach and I kinda wondered if we were actually going to do this or not.
But then the man, Joe, said he wasn't interested and I jumped into the
conversation. I explained briefly our unique message, about the restoration and
the priesthood and then I ended with this, "as you let us teach you, you
will come to know that what we teach is the truth and Gods will for your life.
And when you know this, Will you be Baptized?" The man looked shocked! (So
did Sister Bolos and honestly I'm sure I did too... Haha) He asked for a
pamphlet, our number and the address to the church and time we meet. He then
said he'd call, but if he didn't call he said he wanted us to come back and
teach him.
IT WAS AMAZING!!!!! WE are going back this week to teach
Joe and I am so excited!!! I know the Lord led me and Sister Bolos to that
house for a reason. And it was so awesome!!!
We also had Zone Conference this week. It was great! My
very first. :) And I learned so much!!! We had 4 trainings 2 from President
Craig, one from Sister Craig, and one from the assistants. Sister Craig trained
on Alma 5 (read it!!! It is amazing and you will learn so much!!) and the APs on Enduring to the End, They used
Daniel 3. My favorite part is "But if not.." I know that regardless
of the end result we need to stay firm to our faith. Enduring to the End isn't
easy and sometimes it'll feel like we are all alone, but we truly are never
alone. The Savior is always with us! And I can testify of that. President Craig trained first on Baptism and Repentance.
And second on The Holy Ghost. He encouraged us all to follow the first
prompting because if we are being obedient that will be the right course of
action. All in all it was amazing!!!
We had some hard
days this week too. Because Satan is dumb and wants everyone to be miserable!
But regardless we need to focus on the positives and remember that Christ is at
the helm. <3 And all will be well.
Another exciting moment is that we have set 3 baptism
dates for July! Yeah! I am so excited!! =D Our baptism dates are for a very
nice family, Thomas is the father, Becky the Mother and Jason their 10 yr old
nephew who they just got custody of. They let us in after a door approach and
they are really golden!! Becky came to a Relief Society activity on Saturday
and they all agreed to come to church. I feel I am beginning to have a stronger
testimony about inviting to baptism on the first lesson. Because while I've
done it this week with Sister Bolos I have seen the power of it and the results
that come from it.
Sunday came and we had 3 gators at church. Becky and
Jason but not the father he had to work, so he couldn't make it. But we did
have another one of our Investigators, Rachel, come with her 2 children (a 2 yr
old and a 6 month baby). We plan on committing her to a baptism date this week,
and her husband too if all goes well.
Finally this week was trade offs. So instead of both
Sister Bolos and I going to Hendricks where the Sister training leaders are we
did an old spilt. And Sister Bolos and Sister Ruesch stayed in Dunn Ave and I
went to Hendricks to be with Sister Webb. It was exciting! We knocked a lot of
doors and met many rude people. :( But we stayed positive and still had a great
time!!
Anyway.. I love all of you very much! I pray for y'all
often!
Love Sister Bryans
This is Sis Ruesch and Sis Bolos they stayed in Dunn while Sis Webb and I (above) were in Hendricks.
Together again!!We all had such a great time and saw so many miracles. :)
I love being a missionary!!
