Hello loved
ones!
All I can say
is what a week! ;) so much has happened and boy do I have a story for you.
Let's jump right in.
Monday we stayed in mostly. Sister Clay was packing and getting ready to
be home bound. We were invited to orange park to play ultimate Frisbee but we
bailed, lol. In the evening we went to dinner with Bishop before going out to
work. We went and taught Alaysha and her family the plan of salvation and after
tried a referral.
Tuesday was a beautiful Florida day. So we decided to walk, we tied a few
Less active members and then a referral. We were able to have some success so
yay! On our walk home we stopped by a 7/11 and got a Slurpee, pineapple and
lime. They were good and a great cool down. Then we went to a lesson at about 4
to see a LA sister in the ward with Lindsay. We taught about conference and in
the middle of the lesson I didn't feel so well. So I quickly wrapped it up and
we left, when we got in the car I told Sister Clay that I was really sick and
we discussed what to do. She made a phone call and I writhed around in pain. I
remember getting this thought that I should take this more seriously. (Looking
back I know that was a spiritual impression.) So I had Sister Clay drive me
home and I sat sick in the bathroom, it wasn't good. So we called our Mission
nurse, Sister Cengiz, and told her what was happening. She said to go to Urgent
Care and get checked out because it could be appendicitis. O.o So we contacted
the zone leaders for a blessing they said they would meet us at the Urgent Care.
They are the best!! We went in and got checked immediately, after some poking
and talking they determined it was appendicitis and sent me to an ER. The
elders got there as we were getting ready to leave. We told them what was going
on and I got a blessing sitting in the car in the parking lot. I am forever
grateful for worthy priesthood holders. After the blessing I was feeling a bit
better and suggested just skipping the ER but thankfully Sister Clay takes good
care of me and made us go. We got to the ER about 7pm and met the Cengiz there.
It was busy, lots of people in with the flu haha. So we didn't get seen until
about 10 something. I was exhausted but the blessing had calmed my nerves and I
wasn't feeling terrible. Stephanie was my nurse and I really liked her, she got
me some pain meds and started on an IV as well. And let me just quote Elder
Cengiz, "Drugs are good." Haha. I was feeling pretty good after that.
Then Erica came in to get me for the CAT scan. It was a neat experience, they put
some dye in my IV so they would be able to see thing better. And I just wish I
would've had a card to give Erica, but oh well. Planting seeds is important
too! Doctor Davis came in like 10min later and gave us the news, I was having
an appendicitis and would be needing to have an appendectomy. He said the
surgery would either be that night or the next morning. Either way I was going
to be transferred to the Orange Park hospital. So Sister Cengiz started making
phone calls, President Lee was informed and he sent his love followed by me
speaking with my Mom. It was a little stressful, but no worries! For the
transfer they sent and ambulance, and I met El (L) and Nicolas the EMTs. They
were really nice. The Cengiz and Sister Clay said they would meet me at the
hospital and off they went. I rode with El and we had a really good talk. He
asked about missions so I basically told him all about everything, and then I
told him about church and where it is in Orange Park and invited him to go. But
again NO cards! Seriously I felt like the most unprepared sick missionary ever
haha. Maybe next time ;) We ended up spending the night I the ER waiting
for the surgery the next morning. I felt bad for the Cengiz and Sister Clay
trying to sleep on hard plastic chairs. Michelle was my nurse and she was a
doll. She took such good care and was very attentive, I'd give her a 10/10! :)
And I think the best part was the warm blankets, so comfortable and cozy.
Wednesday at about 6 we were told it was time to prepare me for the
appendectomy. I was terrified! Sister Cengiz called the Zone Leaders to have
them come give a blessing, they never can catch a break haha. But we didn't
know if they would make it so Elder Cengiz gave me a blessing and offered some
comfort and clarity and off we went. As we were walking down the hall I heard
the zone leaders find us and right there in the hall with the transport lady,
Jessica, they gave me a quick blessing. It was comforting and gave me some
courage going forward. Then they put me in another bed and had me sign and
initial so many papers and they gave me some more medication and the last thing
I remember is being wheeled away from Sister Cengiz and Sister Clay. I woke up
later with Mike my nurse. He was really nice. He was so patient as I was coming
out of the anesthesia, I was pretty confused, and then suddenly was got super
nauseous and so he had to help with that because vomiting was a big no-no. He
gave me a bag and put an alcohol swab on my nose to help. Then he got me some
more medicine. He was just so nice and he let sister Lee come in to see me
before I went back to sleep. I'm pretty sure she took a picture of it two of
us, but we'll need to check the blog to find out for sure. Haha. I spent the
rest of Wednesday in and out of sleep. In the evening I was discharged and sent
home, Sister Lee drove us and got us some dinner. My throat hurts so I just got
a frosty. Then I fell asleep and that was that.
Thursday I slept and slept. I did get up and had to walk around. In the
evening the Duling's came and Izzy stayed with me while Sister clay went out to
work. And there were so many phone calls! Everyone has been so concerned about
me, so sweet. I have just felt the love!
Friday was another sleep day! I really don't remember anything, haha. I
did take a shower and that felt really good and then Sister Cengiz came and
checked on me. She also brought us groceries bless her. Then I know that sister
Montgomery came and stayed with me for a while and the TQ sisters came and did
splits with us and then sister Holmes came. But I just slept mostly.
Saturday I slept and watched a movie. Sister Clay couldn't find anyone to
get out with her. And President Lee called and invited us over for a movie and
popcorn if we needed or wanted, it was really sweet. :)
Sunday I was determined to go to church for the sacrament. But Sister
Clay ended up with an hour long nose bleed that sent her to the urgent care.
Thankfully bishop sent his sons and a YW in the ward over to bring us the
sacrament. Then we watched a movie and I slept a little more. In the evening we
made our phone calls to report on the week everyone was so happy to talk to me
haha. The zone leaders were awesome and so inspired. They thanked me for using
the priesthood and asking for help and reminded me that I am not a burden and
that the Lord loves me. It really touched my heart because it was exactly what
I needed to hear. Bless them!
So that was my
week of insanity! Sorry this is also a week late. Technology is sometimes
tricky. I love you all so much! I love the lord and I am so thankful for the
love he offers each and every one of us.
all my love, Sister Bryans
P.s. a photo of the advice Sister clay wrote for those
coming to sister-sit me.

Onaleigh hope your feeling better. That's really awesome that all of your nurses were really nice to you. Sending hugs and comfort to you as you recover.
