Referrals and Service and Lobsters - Oh My!

Yes....mhm...and then.... oh! Hi there. I didn't know you had started to read this weeks update from the life and times of Sister Bryans. I guess that means I need to write something worthwhile.
So, the last time I wrote you was a Tuesday. Tuesday's are good. And our Tuesday was fun. But Wednesday was better.
We helped the Elders move someone they met on the street. That was fun. Our entire District was there. And we did tons. It was awesome! Missionary Experience - I think yes.
We also had lunch with Karen. I like that lady. She took us to Twin Dragons for Chinese food. YUM! It tasted really good as usual.
Then we had a pretty great lesson with Emma C. She had listened to the first 7 chapters of the Book of Mormon online. And then proceeded to tell us all that she learned from it. It was awesome. I have never heard her stay so focused on one topic of the gospel in all my experience teaching her. It was a miracle!
Then we had a delicious dinner with Sister Groesbeck and talked about the importance of Friendship in the gospel and in missionary work. (Thanks for the talk, Mom!)
We also did some more service with the ward. We were doing garbage pickup along one of the main roads in the city. It was a lot of fun. I got to work with Alina and Jazz - two primary age girls. They are so incredibly cute. I love them lots.
And we also were able to meet with the Valentines that night too which was awesome! They are a very young newly married couple and they have been struggling coming to church recently. I wish I knew how to help, but I don't really relate to them.
Thursday was awesome! We talked about our goal of finding a family of 5 with everyone we visited. Because of that, we were able to receive 6 referrals that day. That was a miracle in and of itself. I was so excited! I have never received more referrals in my life, nor have I ever seen anyone give as many as I saw Sister Turner give us; she gave us 5 of the 6.
Friday was an "eh" day. It was really hard to focus in on the weekly planning we needed to do. But we did have a good lesson with the Cox's at the church. That was fun. We talked about: The Natural Man being an Enemy to God. It was really interesting. Her question was basically along the lines of: If God really loves us why would our Natural Man be his enemy? So I sat and pondered and then I said to her... perhaps it's not God himself that finds our Natural Man his enemy, but it is the God/Goddess we will someday become that is an enemy to our Natural Man. It was an interesting pondering... and it is definitely the doctrine of Sister Bryans, so please don't go bearing your testimony about it next Fast Sunday.
And Saturday, all we did was service. We met the Elders at Sister Caldwell's house and proceeded to go on a treasure hunt through knee high grass as we cleaned out her backyard and mowed/weed wacked the lawn. It was crazy! There was a bunch of nonsense garbage lying all around too. We found 2 shoes, 3 saws, 2 broken windows, some rugs and a couple of grills... and that is only the smallest portion of it. It was crazy. And it was a lot of fun. We also began chopping down some of the trees she is having removed. But since the saws we found were dull, and missionaries aren't allowed to use chainsaws; we used hedge clippers and brute strength. It was awesome!
The resulting effects of all of the work we did include but are not limited to: dirty, stinky missionaries, red lobster shaded skin, sore arms, a few scratches, very dirty shoes and extreme tiredness at the end of the day. Was it worth it - CHECK YES!!!!
And Sunday, we were able to go to Seminary Graduation. It was a lot of fun. I love seeing how the gospel plays a role in the lives of today's youth. Although it was really sad because their graduating class was really small and only 3 of the seminary teachers showed up to graduation. I also learned that Seminary in the West Coast is very different from the Seminary I went to. It was odd.
But yeah.... I think that's all to report this week.
Love y'all!
Sister Bryans
