Hello
All,
It is I the Mighty
moth Killer! Apparently in the wide wonderful
world of Colorado, there are a multitudinous amount of moths that think it is a
a hilarious plight to enter the home of Sister Fenton where we are living and
pose a terror and a threat to Sister Johnson and I.
It is always a fun
night as I listen to the words, "Sister!!! Kill It!" To which I respond, "I'm
coming. I'll save you." as I run down the hall or through the living room
killing every moth in sight. (At first, I tried to catch them. Then I realized
that's just to much work, So now I just smash them with a fly swatter.) It's a
blast and keeps us busy at night.
So this week was
pretty darn legit. Tuesday we did exchanges with the Sister Trainer Leaders in
Wellington. I stayed in the Parkwood area and worked with Sister Rosier. She is
AWESOME! We were able to teach 6 lessons that day and found a new investigator.
She is a 14/15 year old girl named Marlyn (Jackie). Here is the story of finding
her:
We were tracting in
a trailer park. (They're golden!) We walked up to a tailer which door was wide
open. So we knocked on the wood and were told, "Come In." So we walked to the
doorway and talked the a woman cooking in the kitchen. We
introduced ourselves and were told, "I don't speak English very well." So we
tried to tell her that there were Spanish Sister Missionaries, but
she interrupted us and said that we could teach her kids. So her kids came to
the door and we told them who we were and asked if we could teach them. The son
wasn't interested and he told us we could teach his sister, and she let us in to
teach her. She told us how she wants to go to church and that she has never
prayed before. So we taught her the first lesson and asked if we could come back
and she said yes. She is
amazing!!!
So that is how we
found Marlyn.
Wednesday was Zone
Meeting.
Thursday was Sister
Johnson's 1 year mark. So we did quite a bit to celebrate. Like: service at
Sister Molina's, visits to some of her favorite families in the ward, eat Hot
Dogs for dinner and a Carvel Ice Cream Cake for dessert, oh! and also burn
something. It was awesome!
Friday we served at
Catholic Charities and got asked if we were Nuns in Training. (DO I LOOK LIKE A
NUN TO YOU?!?) We also visited with Sister Tracy. She is a sweet single sister
in the ward. She told us we smelled like tobacco. And then we talked about the mission she served in Milano, Italy.
(Back when all you did was tract and you had to wear pantyhose.)
Saturday was
another good day. We taught Sister Roberts at Denny's. That was a lot of fun. We
talked about the Christlike attributes of Hope, Humility and Obedience. It's
interesting to see people who have a desire to change but aren't yet at the
point where they are ready to change. So we invited her to get a priesthood
blessing and read the story of Job.
Church yesterday
was phenomenal!!! We got to listen to Sister A. Van Orden give her farewell
address. She is going to the Copenhagen, Denmark miission and leaves soon. She
will be a splendid missionary. I am excited for her!
She
shared this quote from Elder Holland: "With any major decision there are
cautions and considerations to make, but once there has been illumination,
beware the temptation to retreat from a good thing. If it was right when you
prayed about it and trusted it and lived for it, it is right now. Don’t give up
when the pressure mounts. Certainly don’t give in to that being who is bent on
the destruction of your happiness. Face your doubts. Master your fears. “Cast
not away therefore your confidence.” Stay the course and see the beauty of life
unfold for you." (Cast Not Away Therefore They Confidence) This is so
true!
I
hope you all are doing well.
Love,
Sister
Bryans
