Hello All,
This has been an interesting week.
Tuesday we did exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders in
Wellington. I was blessed enough to get to experience Wellington and serve with
Sister Clark. Wellington has HUGE ward boundaries. They creep into Fort Collins
on the side with the Budweiser plant and follow Colorado all the way up to
Wyoming. And it RAINED & RAINED during the exchange. At one point
Sister Clark and I were soaked and could ring the water out of our clothes. We
were also blessed to eat at the Daknis' home, but due to the circumstance of
Sister Daknis being away at Girls Camp, we ate in the garage. It was a
wonderful experience which I greatly enjoyed. I am always grateful when members
are willing to do whatever they can to support the missionaries serving in
their area.
Wednesday, we finished the exchange with lunch at Culver's.
DELICIOUS! as usual.
Friday, we had a brief visit/lesson with a referral we
received from Sister Langston and Sister Udy. Her name is M. Goodrich. She is
the cutest and one of the oldest ladies I have ever met. She graduated high
school in 1945, married shortly thereafter and raised her kids in
a mortuary. And she has been in Fort Collins the whole time except for the
brief period of time when her family was living in Cincinnati, OH while
her husband was studying to be a mortician. She belongs to a different faith
and has no desire to change those beliefs, but she was grateful for the visit.
It was a lot of fun to visit with her.
Saturday, we welcomed in the new month with a lunch date
with Sister Chavez. I love that lady SO much! We went to the Taqueria which is
a Hispanic market with a cute little restaurant attached. Sister Chavez
said that the food they serve is like Street Mexican. It was a cute little
place, and I was able to listen to people speak Spanish which was fantastic.
(Sometimes serving an English speaking mission becomes a little too
white/American/English. I need some color, some culture and some language.)
Then we went to Moroni's bookstore which is a cute little LDS bookstore. It had
a lot of great stuff in it. I found a mini Preach My Gospel and a mini missionary
copy of the Book of Mormon - both of which I had wanted for a really long time.
They are easy to carry around, and they are two books which I won't highlight,
write or mark in in any way. I also found a CTR ring which I purchased. It is
the worlds smallest, so it is mostly just a stainless steel band with a tiny
black shield containing the letters CTR. It is really nice. I didn't realize
how much I missed wearing a CTR ring until I put it on. (Simple rings and
bracelets are my favorites.) Anyways - to end our lunch date, we went to
Dairy Queen for ice cream. YUM!!
Sunday was great! And church was better. one of the girls
that was being taught by the previous sisters in the ward finally decided to be
baptized when she participated in Girls Camp. So she announced that to the ward
while she bore her testimony. We all are super excited for her. Last night we
taught her lesson 5 and she voiced her concerns with telling her parents,
specifically her mother, about her decision to be baptized. I know all will be
okay! She can do it. The Spirit she carries is SUPER STRONG. And whether she
has to wait until she's 18 or not, all will be well. Her testimony will
continue to grow and mature.
We also had a really good lesson with another of the young women named Ellen. She is great! She is really trying to find out for herself if what she has been taught her whole life is something she believes or not. It's great!

So yeah..... that's about all the grand highlights from the
week.
I know many of you have been asking about the progress of
the Fort Collins Temple. Sadly, due to the position of my ward boundaries, I
never get to see it to take pictures, but I learned that they have a live web
cam that sits atop the Church Building next to the temple, and I was able to find
a link to the website, so you may watch the building of the temple in real
time. How great is that?!?! The Blessing of Technology - I think YES!!! http://cameras.liveviewtech.com/network_cameras/public_live_cameras_video/825
I hope it brings you joy and excitement!
Love,
Sister Bryans
