Let us Spread the Gospel TWO by TWO

Dear Family and Friends!
Let me just say that this week has been an adventure like none other. And part of that adventure is one I never hope to repeat.
Our week started with a really loud bird. On Tuesday, we visited a less active sister - Sister Imig. She has a really funny bird that is older than the hills. Ok maybe not that old, but at least older than 30. This bird has the laugh of an old woman and likes to talk and whistle. It's crazy! So we sat in with the bird and taught Sister Imig from Mosiah 24:13-14. It was a pretty good lesson. We commit her to read Mosiah 24.
Wednesday, we were able to visit with Kate and her four year old daughter Ella. One of our Potential Investigators. We shared Joseph Smith's first vision at the doorstep and also gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon. She seems really interested. And her daughter Ella is super cute! We found Kate and Ella while doing status checking in the Woodhood. (There are a bunch of streets in our area of FOCO that end in -wood, so we call it the Woodhood.) We will hopefully be able to meet with them again on Saturday to finish out lesson 1.
We also were able to talk to Jessica V. about he decision to be baptized that night at Young Women's, but sadly she has made the decision to wait until her family moves back from Florida next year. NO! We were really sad, so we were really quiet for the rest of the night.
On Thursday, we were going to do some Finding as we continued our search for Sister Briggs, but we decided that it was very ineffective, so we decided to see if we could locate her at work instead. And we were able to, but she had gone home early from work that day, so we made it a plan to go back the next day. Which is what we did! Before we had that great idea led by the Spirit, we had a very good Zone Meeting led by our Zone Leaders.
DUH, DUH, DUH!!!! FRIDAY! The biggest day EVER!
Not only did we have Sister Briggs to visit, but we also had interviews with President and the opportunity to weekly plan, but it was also the culmination of the adventures of our week.
So we showed up to Sister Briggs work, which happens to be the local hospital, and she wasn't very happy. So we left feeling really discouraged that the miracle we thought was going to happen was a complete failure.
Off to interviews we go. Interviews were great. As you walk into the room set aside for interviews, you get hit with a spiritual wall and everything comes out. And he is able to see into your soul. It's always an interesting experience. So from that experience, we learn what we can do better, what he can do to help us and how to become the best missionary we can. You also learn a lot about yourself. It's always good.
Our weekly planning was great! We stayed at the church which was nice. The Library always has interesting things to look at and play with. But SHUSH! I'm not supposed to know that - WHAT?!? ;)
We had dinner with the Weiler's, and it was really good. TACO's!!! And since there daughter is pescetarian(sp), they had tofu and zucchini, so I was able to put tofu and zucchini on my taco, and it was DELICIOUS! Yum, Yum, Yum!
Our night ended with an interesting visit to the Hernandez family. Sister Hernandez's family was visiting as they toured Maria M's (Sister Hernandez's sister's) mission. There were extra kids in the home, and it was crazy as we listened to them argue over the video games and play with Marshmallow who made herself very comfy cozy on my bag. And then, one of the kids brought out a toy gun that flashed white lights when the trigger was pulled and our night went from Ok to Terrifying in a matter of minutes. Sister Johnson got really sick because of it, so we turned in for the night an hour earlier than we're supposed to. And Elder Bowers and Elder Sondrup came and administered a priesthood blessing to her. Neither her nor I slept during the night because we didn't know what was going to happen. It was a really SCARY experience that I never wish to repeat ever!
I now understand at a personal level why the Lord has called us to work in two's. Not only do we add a supporting witness and testimony, but we are also there to support, protect and care for each other in times of need or danger. I am so grateful for my companion!
I am equally grateful for worthy priesthood holders that are willing to use their priesthood when called upon. I have never been privy to witness a blessing filled with so much love from our Heavenly Father to an individual person as I was on Friday night when Elder Bowers gave Sister Johnson a blessing. It was humble and beautiful.
So, Saturday we took the day really slow, but all was well we taught the lessons the Lord placed in our path, and we ended our night with a celebration of life, health and a successful day with a trip to Sister Johnson's favorite restaurant - McDonald's. =D We also found the Mylo - Sister Fenton's cat in Sister Johnson's dresser drawer at 11:00 at night. How the cat ended up there, we have no idea.
Sunday was great! We taught Gospel Principles to the biggest class I've ever seen. We also had a really beautiful Sacrament program. We had an almost 3 hour dinner appointment with the Hernandez family. And taught a lesson about faith to Ellen W.
So our week was full, crazy, adventurous, and never to be forgotten.
This is my second favorite video from the Mormon Messages this week. And I thought it was very fitting to what real missionary work is all about.
As members and missionaries alike, "Our purpose is to invite [all] to Come Unto Christ..." Preach My Gospel chapter 1, emphasis added
LOVE YOU!

Sister Bryans
