Hello Good People of the World in which we Live!
I was just thinking about you and how I haven't written to
you in a week, so it is about time for me to send out word of the grand
adventures of your favorite Sister Missionary in the blessed field of
Colorado.
The field here is green and approaching the harvest of
another year. School has once again begun for the good people of Fort Collins
and all morning we saw parents with their children entering the Tavelli
Elementary school. It brought back memories of picture days and long drives
and expensive camera equipment. Such were the days before I entered the mission
field.
Being out in the field these past 8 and 1/2 months, I have
learned a lot. I have learned a lot about people, about food and about culture.
(Didn't think that would happen coming to Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, but it
did.) And I am continuing to learn even more every day.
This week, I learned how to get a free frosty from Wendy's
by ordering the 10pc Spicy Chicken Nuggets. I learned that chicken, grapes and
cheese are a pretty delicious combination. I learned that I have no idea how to
teach a 7 year old. And I learned that drugs and alcohol aren't worth it. They
lead you to physical, emotional and spiritual harm. Everyday, I witness
sunsets, prairie dogs, squirrels and bunnies - some of God's finest
creations.
This week, I was able to meet Cody. A 37 year old who is
looking for the right church but hasn't found it yet. I was able to eat Maco's
with a favorite named Emily. I was able to pray with a couple who are searching
for a newness of life and freedom from fear and pain.
This week, I finished reading Jesus the Christ and
have jumped back into the scriptures as I continue in 1 Samuel. This week, I
was reminded of how the Atonement can work in our lives if we just "Stay
with him." (http://mormonsandgays.org
Ty's Story)
This week, I was able to interact not only with other
missionaries but also with members, less actives, investigators and others met
on the street.
Everyday, a door is opened and the light of the gospel seeps
in to someones life through the example I set, the words I speak and the
service I render.
How grateful I am to be a living modern witness that Jesus
is the Christ, that his gospel has been restored through a living prophet, and
that the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ is the word
of God. It is a physical witness we can hold in our hands that God loves his
children, and He manifests himself in every dispensation of time to every nation,
kindred, tongue and people.
Everyday, I keep trying, succeeding and failing. Everyday, I
keep moving forward. It's never easy, but it is always worth it.
Love,
Sister Bryans
