MISSION CONFERENCE

Highlights from Elder Baxter on Effective Teaching:

1) Instruct ----> Knowing Truth

2) Inspire ----> Feeling the Spirit

3) Motivate -----> Doing aka Following the Savior's call to "Come Follow Me"

Highlights from Elder Cook on Our Purpose:

1) We are ward and branch builders. Our call is to help build the Lord's Kingdom.

2) We succeed when we invite regardless of the outcome. 

3) We are the message.

Highlights from Elder Cook on Other:

Doctrine and Covenants 31: 3-5,7

The Church did a study on what 2 things are remembered by people when they are taught by the missionaries. The results were: 1) The First Vision of Joseph Smith, and 2) The Plan of Salvation. 

Finally - as Missionaries: We are blessing not only ourselves or those we work with and teach, but we are blessing everyone we love and care about. 

SPECIAL STAKE CONFERENCE

Highlights from Elder Cook:

Study the Last chapter of Matthew, Mark, Luke and the Last 2 chapters of John, and the first little bit of Acts. 

How to prepare for the Fort Collins Temple?:

First - Build Zion in your Heart and in your Home. 

Second - Be and Example in your Community.

Third - Focus you Vision and Goals on the Temple.

He also told a story about when he and his family were having family home evening. At this time one son was 3 years old. They were going to act out the story of Moses freeing the Children of Israel. Moses was to be the 3 year old and Pharaoh was to be Elder Cook. After 3 times of Moses asking Pharaoh  "Let my People Go" and being responded to, "No." Little Moses punched Pharaoh in the nose. And so we learn form a witness of Jesus Christ that no Family Home Evening is ever going to be perfect, but the memories that come will last a lifetime.
