When a tricycle becomes a bicycle sitting in audience of Elder Cook

Dear Family and Friends,
So this email will probably come in two parts because there is just so much that happened this week, but yet...maybe not.
Wednesday - sometime after email - we ate dinner with the VanShaar family. They are pretty great. The only thing I can remember from our dinner conversation is that the daughter teaches piano. Then we had a lesson with a man named Captain. He is great! We taught him at the ward mission leaders house. And Brother Halgren did most of the teaching. Our lesson was all over the place. We started by answering his question about, "Why the Book of Mormon?" and then jumped to parts of every other lesson we teach. It was awesome! At the end of our lesson, he asked, "So there is a plan for life?" and so our next lesson will be on the Plan of Salvation.
Thursday was a fun day. We biked the three miles to the stake center for District Meeting and we were late, but District Meeting was still good. At the end, we did what is called a hot seat where everyone got to sit at the front of the room and get questioned, so we could get to know each other. That was an adventure. And then we waited until Sister Johnson and her new companion Sister Carbno came to get us so we could get home. (Sister Jacobson wasn't feeling well.) The way we worked it out was Sister Jacobson and her bike drove home, and Sister Smith and I biked home. We booked it. I have never biked so fast in my life!!! PS> everyone should try biking in a skirt. It's a lot of fun.
We ate dinner at home before going to an appointment with Jason and DeAnna. They are some "investigators" that like to dress up, so their fellow shippers the Peterson's dress up too to make them feel comfortable. It was a good lesson. We taught about faith. And then shortly after DeAnna read the famous faith scripture in Alma, she broke the silence and came out that Sister Jacobson and I had been pranked and Jason and DeAnna were members. YOU'VE BEEN PRANKED!!!!! I totally believed the whole thing. It was ridiculous.
And to end the work night, we had a short lesson on the porch of Brett a recent convert in the ward. It was a good Thursday. Sadly though, our tripan was being broken up and Sister Jacobson was being transferred to the Taft Canyon ward to be in a tripan in a car. NOOOO!!!! My tricycle is not the same. It was sad. So we had a going away party that night and played the game Spot It. BEST GAME EVER! I totally recommend it.
Friday, we went to Bingo with the Taft Canyon and YSA sisters. And then we went to President Foster's for Lunch. He's the Fort Collins Stake President. We talked about what we can do for the missionary efforts in the area. It was a good discussion, but it was a little close ended. And then Sister Jacobson left to be with the Taft Canyon Sisters.
Sister Smith and I were dropped off at home by the Wellington Sisters and we just crashed. We had no desire to do weekly planning and we were exhausted, so we decided it to take a nap, and I ended up taking a two hour nap before having to go to dinner at the Halgren's. Dinner was great. We had carrot soup which was very yummy. Then we tried a few more people before we came home for the night.
Saturday was the mission conference. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! Elder Quentin L. Cook is the coolest man ever (https://www.lds.org/church/leader/quentin-l-cook?lang=eng). As are: Elder Craig C. Christenson (https://www.lds.org/church/leader/craig-c-christensen?lang=eng), Elder David S. Baxter (https://www.lds.org/church/leader/david-s-baxter?lang=eng), and Elder George F. Rhodes (area 70). All four of these men graced us with their presence at our mission conference. I think I now have a new favorite seventy. Elder Baxter is GREAT!
Anyways - We learned tons too.
Elder Cook talked about the importance of being obedient; Elder Baxter talked about having and Effective Teaching Experience (PMG p.20); Elder Christensen talked about Foreknowledge and Vision, and Elder Cook talked about Our Purpose and Doctrine and Covenants 31. IT WAS AMAZING!!!
After the conference, we went to lunch at Five Guys. I took another 2 hour nap. We had dinner with the Richman's which are a fantastic family of redheads. We visited the Mencia Family and talked about Family History and also visited the McCaw family where we were able to teach a non-member about the Book of Mormon. Woot Woot!!!
Yesterday - oh blessed Sabbath that it was. We were able to listen to Elder Cook again in a special Stake Conference. This time, he talked about how the people in the Fort Collins area can prepare themselves for the temple. It was fantastic. And it was really good to be able to see friends from the Parkwood ward. PLUS!!! It was even better to see April and Athene at church too. WOOHOO!!! They came. They came. They came. I never expected April (she's Wiccan) to come to church again.
Then we taught Rachel our 17 almost 18 year old investigator at her boyfriends house, ate breakfast for dinner at the Carroll's, and visited Sister Llamas. Good Times.
When we came home, I got a blessing from the Zone Leaders and we weekly planned.
So that was our week.
In part two of this email, I will relate the doctrine taught at Mission Conference and Stake Conference.
Love,
Sister Bryans
