Sorry I didn't email last week. We moved our P-day to Saturday, so we could travel down to the temple and celebrate with Cass a lady that Sister Smith taught in Laramie who was going through the temple for the first time. Anyways - I was supposed to email when we got back, but we didn't get back until less than 20 minutes from when the Women's Broadcast was going to start, so I figured I would just save two weeks of information and cram it into a picture perfect email.
Tuesday the 16th - ZONE CONFERENCE
Zone Conference was pretty great. We focused on the Restoration of the Gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith and the first vision that he had. We were taught about the priesthood and repentance. We were also taught how to properly clean house and wash our hands. We briefly talked about mental health which is the no.1 concern that we have in the mission. We reviewed proper driving in the snow. And then listened to the departing testimonies of 11 missionaries due to go home between now and midway through November. And finally we reviewed the importance of fasting.
Wednesday the 17th - SICK DAY
Both Sister Jacobson and I ended up sick halfway through the day, so we stayed at home and rested up. We drew pictures and played some card games.
Thursday the 18th - APPLES part 1
We helped Sister Halgren prepare some apples for applesauce making. It was fun, and the tips of my fingers turned a rusty brown color. We also taught Rachel the last lesson she needs to get baptized. WOOHOO!
Friday the 19th - APPLES part 2
We helped Sister Watson with some apples that she gathered with the Halgren's. SO MANY APPLES!!! We ate dinner with the Atwools that night. They are a cute older couple. He used to be a mission president. So it was fun to hear some of his stories. And then we went out to TCBY for some fro-yo to celebrate the baptism of a girl from the YSA ward. It also happened to work out that Sister Haas a returned Sister Missionary was in town so we got to see her too.
Saturday the 20th - CUPCAKES and CURSES
We took a mental health day, so we mad cupcakes after studies and then played Curses. Then Sister Jacobson and Sister Smith went down for a nap, and I went upstairs to study. I read and studied the talk His Grace is Sufficient by Brad Wilcox (http://speeches.byu.edu/?act=viewitem&id=1966). I read it twice and learned a lot.
Sunday the 21st - PUMPKIN BUTTER
We had breakfast with Brother Kunkel, so we could visit Brother Richmond's brother. And then Julia gave us a ride to church which was super nice of her. After church, we came home a ate pumpkin butter on everything. It is SO GOOD! I really like it on crackers with goat cheese. Totally worth trying and totally lactose free. w00t! We also went to choir. (I thought I got out of choir when I left Parkwood ward. Guess not...) I was able to help sing tenor which was pretty legit.
Sunday the 22nd - NOT P-DAY
The only p-day activity we participated in was laundry. None of us have enough under garments to last two weeks, and because missionaries are supposed to pack light, we didn't have enough clothes to last two weeks either.
We did some weeding at Brett's, and we also made the chocolate chip cookies I received in my birthday package. THEY WERE SO GOOD! I would kindly appreciate the recipe family. Thanks. And then we went on exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders in Berthoud. I worked with Sister Cardon in the Timberline area. It was a good experience. She is one of my favorite sister missionaries ever! To celebrate our exchange, we sacrificed a chocolate cow before bed.
Tuesday the 23rd - 1060
Sister Cardon and I did 1060 crunches (in different forms) as part of morning workout. It was awesome! And then next day, I felt like I was gonna die! But I did buy some Biscoff cookies for my companions - their favorite cookies. They were very pleasantly surprised.
Wednesday the 24th - MEET THE MORMONS the movie
Wednesday was one of the longest days I have ever been a part of. YIKES! WE were up early to drive down to Loveland for a doctors appointment for Sister Jacobson. Ps. Did you catch me say Drive?!? We got to borrow the Zone Leaders Truck for the Morning. It was GREAT!!! On our way back, we bought some smoothies from Inta Juice. They were really good, but mine made me really sick. Don't know why. I was really offended by my smoothie.
So, we were late for Zone Meeting which was awkward because the only open seats were in the front. Zone Meeting was really good. We talked about effective planning.
***********ONE HOUR LATER***********
Then we drove to the Trilby building right near the temple to watch Meet the Mormons with the Loveland Zone. It is one of the best movies ever! I love it so much, (http://meetthemormons.com/#/filter-all/page-1) Everyone should go see it because it is amazing.
Thursday the 25th - THE PLAN OF SALVATION IN CHALK
So we decided to draw the Plan of Salvation in chalk at the English Ranch Park. It looked pretty legit when we were done if I do say so myself. Not sure if many people saw it or had questions though, so we'll have to wait and see. We left the Mormon.org and LDS.org website and we also invited people to look at the Meet the Mormons website. We do what we can, and we leave it up to others to use their agency. We also had a really great lesson with a potential investigator Zach (13) and his dad JW. They are a really cool family. I love them a lot. Again, we're waiting for agency so we can teach them again. They want to discuss what we have shared and read from the Book of Mormon together before they jump on board with anything. It makes me really sad though because you could totally see the Spirit working through Zach.
Friday the 26th - RACHEL'S BAPTISM
Rachel got baptized! Wooh! We were so excited. The room was packed. President and Sister Brown came down. Rachel's parents and her sister Carly came too. Christian , Rachel's boyfriend, performed the ordinance which was really cool. But the best was that: Carly felt the Spirit!!!!! YES! She couldn't stop weeping, so we are meeting with her tonight.
Saturday the 27th - TEMPLE DAY
We were able to go to the Denver temple to be with Cass as she took out her endowment and went to the temple for the first time. We were with the Livingston family from Laramie too. It was a long day that ended with the General Woman's Broadcast. Fun Times!
Sunday the 28th - FAST SUNDAY
With General Conference next weekend, we had our fast Sunday this week. Carly came to church, and Rachel received the git of the Holy Ghost. BOOM!
Two Weeks in less than two hours. Boom!
Pictures will be added to this and other emails momentarily.
Love,
