Once Upon a Roller Coaster Ride

Hello Adoring Citizens of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Wyoming and Colorado (and any other states tuning in) who might be reading this at present. I am proud to say that I have survived yet another transfer and will be staying in the Timberline Ward of the Fort Collins Stake. My new companion will be Sister Woods who was lucky enough to be trained by one of my favorite companions: Sister M. Johnson. She and I will pedal our way through the next 6 weeks praying daily that the weather stays nice and we won't freeze our fingers and toes off. Wooh! I will also get to learn how to eat mostly gluten free, and she will get to learn how to eat mostly dairy free. Dinner will be a party!
But, before any questions are asked....let me share with you the highlights from week 6 of a transfer past.
On Tuesday, we were blessed with the opportunity to help Sister Stuckey clean up her yard in preparation for the winter months. It was quite the adventure that included worm slinging and the Elders from Nelson Farm ward.
We were also able to go to the Library for some Mormon.org time during which I watched one of my new favorite Mormon Messages made for the Youth of the church. It is a video called: Stay Within the Lines and Elder Holland narrates it. It's SOOOOOO Good. (http://www.mormonchannel.org/youth-videos?v=1756076503001)
We also had a really great lesson with Brett H. He's one of the many recent converts in the ward, and he loves art. He also is very sarcastic and tries to joke about almost everything, so sometimes it is hard to teach him. But! Brother Halgren our amazing Ward Mission Leader was inspired to have him draw a picture of the first vision while we sang a few hymns and talked about the Joseph Smith story. It was actually a really productive lesson, and it helped him keep focus very well. It was awesome!
And then we checked the phone and realized that we had a mighty number of missed calls from President Brown. YIKES! It turned out that a Sister in the Windsor ward was going home unexpectedly for medical reasons and Sister Smith was needed to take her place. I will have you all know that we found out at 9:30pm that night, and she left at 9:00am the next morning. We didn't really sleep at all that night because we stayed up to help/watch Sister Smith pack. Woah! That's the only bad thing about trio's. If something crazy happens to a Sistership, then we're the first to be affected.
Wednesday was a mess. Neither Sister Jacobson nor I knew/know the area very well and we didn't have time to do any nightly planning, so we were very overwhelmed when Sister Smith left. So we took a nap to catch up on the sleep we didn't get. And after lunch, we went to the park to do a mid-week weekly planning to figure out what we were going to do until Transfer Tuesday.
We also helped Sister Hanks, the Bishop's wife, prepare dinner for the high school football team. 40 hungry teenage boys. CRAZY! She was also gracious enough to feed us before they showed up. Yes! Service with a Full Belly.....I mean Smile! =D
The upside great, grand and glorious close to our Wednesday night was that we had an amazing lesson with Carly about the Plan of Salvation. The Ortiz family, who are total boss member missionaries, already took the initiative and taught her a really brief summary of God's Happy Plan, so she basically taught us and then we just answered her questions and clarified confusing doctrines. She is so ready. I can't wait until she gets baptized.
On Thursday, it rained and rained and rained and rained. I wondered if we were going to have another flood. But we didn't. At least, not in Fort Collins. But it still rained a lot. Like, it rained and was cold the WHOLE DAY! But we were still able to do awesome stuff. Let me tell you about it:
First - We helped Sister Larson make chocolate zucchini bread. YUM! Then she drove us to the Stake Center so we could meet the Berthoud Sisters for lunch. LUNCH WAS GREAT! Because it was us, Berthoud, Parkwood and Taft Canyon. WOOH! So here's the story behind lunch:
While Sister Johnson and I were companions we stopped at the Backporch Cafe for lunch and saw that they had a little glass jar where people could place their business cards and receive a free lunch and listen to a really short talk about finances. So Sister Johnson and I were like, "Heck yeah! Free lunch lets do it." So we did. And they called Sister Johnson and she arranged it all and invited us. GREATNESS!!! Need I say more.
So there was lunch. And pictures were taken, and I am doing what I can to receive those pictures. We'll see how it goes.
And then we went to District Meeting which was ok. But like I said it rained and rained and rained.   So since our entire district is on bike, we waited the rain out at the Stake Center... FOR 3 HOURS! We talked about everything and even played a few round of Spot It. (PS. Did ya'll get Spot It yet? It's so much fun!!!)
And then we had lunch with the Young Women's President, Sister Lloyd. She is amazing! Super Spiritual and in awe at the youth she has served with in the past and what they have done with their lives. She was sharing with us the story of one of the young women she taught a while ago who has been serving a mission in the Philistines and was there when the Typhoon hit last year. TERRIFYING! But so powerful! I get chills just writing about it.
Friday we went out to lunch with Sister Clark from the Carlson Farm ward. That was fun. We went to IHOP with her and her kids. Loved it! She has a little ginger baby. I love Gingers!
And we also taught two really good lessons to the Read Family and the Marquez Family.
Saturday was rough. We stayed at home because Sister Jacobson wasn't feeling well. Sad! =(
And Sunday, other than having the regular 3 hours of church, we also had another amazing lesson with Carly. She has commit to be baptized. We just don't have a date yet. I am so excited for her!!!! Woot, Woot! She has such great faith and an amazing testimony already. She loves the scriptures and has great questions. As Brother Ortiz always says, "I am so envious of you Carly." I just....WOOSH! I'm blown away by her. She will do great things as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I can't wait!!!
So yeah - that was my/our week in a nutshell. I hope I can send you some pictures, but so far it's not looking so good. Oh! By the way...Sister Jacobson is leaving me and returning to Taft Canyon ward where she vacationed for a week last transfer.
Love you all a lot,
Sister Bryans
PS. Check out the song "He Brought Me Light." I really like it a lot. Like a whole lot. It's really pretty and is sung in one of my favorite vocal ranges ever. LOVE YOU ALL!
