We had a lesson today with a man named Solvek, we met him a few weeks ago and he's very interested in our faith, but due to some health issues it's been hard to see him. So when he asked if we could have a lesson today we quickly agreed, he was our one new investigator this past week. We had a wonderful returned missionary come to the lesson with us. She bore her testimony and because she served her mission in Japan and Japanese was Solvek's first language we had her say the closing prayer in Japanese. It was really beautiful and there was such a powerful spirit. And it really touched Solvek's heart. I know that when we pray about it we can find the perfect member for our investigators and it makes all the difference.
We've had a really interesting week. Sister Beecher is a powerhouse! She works so hard and has really been trying to apply the trainings from zone conference. She had a little sad moment and just asked me why we weren't succeeding like she had hoped too before her mission. It was a sorta sad question, and a hard one to find a good answer too. We talked about numbers and how they represent people yes but then she was frustrated because we've been having a lot of zeros. So we talked about what a zero wasn't. It was a powerful discussion and I know it was led by the spirit. I offered my testimony and simply said a zero doesn't take into account the hours spent working and praying and crying and trying so, so hard but people still have agency. And a zero doesn't take into account the heart of the missionary and their hard work and sweat and prayers. Basically I told her in the long run a zero is just a number... And it's not even half of the story. It seems to really have help her changed her perspective and honestly it's helped me too. I just love that the role to the spirit is to edify, so in the long run he helps all of us to improve and grow and be comforted.
Our district meeting was so inspired this week. The zone leaders gave a training about having the faith to baptize and I was feeling a little bummed since we weren't even really finding at that point. And then Elder Hosking gave a powerful training about missionary work and the atonement (much if it from your last letter) it was powerful. It was so comforting. I felt listed to where i needed to be. Then our goal for the week was to try new finding ideas. It has been so fun! We've kept it interesting and its pushed us to try a little harder and be a little better. And it's been super fun to hear about the miracles and adventures the rest of the district has been having.
I really appreciated the letter last week. Because missions are hard! Wherever you go they're hard. And it is so important to remember that when we struggle and we suffer We are standing with Jesus Christ. How can I be willing to take his name and wear it on my chest if I can't face even a token of life's challenges and trials. It was a powerful reminder. I also loved the part about the spirit. I know how important the holly ghost is and sister beecher and I are working hard to keep him our constant companion. We truly can't do this work without him. And even little things can make all the difference. I am going to watch my words this week, because they do make a difference. And I'll remember the 15 phrases. I'm going to make a goal to use each one everyday this week, I know we'll be seeing some mighty miracles from it.
in my life. Have a wonderful week. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Love always, sister Bryans
